Baby Is Here!!!

Lets start with all the details first, then the pictures.
(Some of the details and times are sketchy, Aimee will straighten them out when she gets home)

We left for the hospital around 11:00pm on Tuesday February the 28th.

The contractions were close together, but not too close. So we walked for quite a while to see if we could get things going. It worked a little and the contractions were getting stronger and closer. All that led us to two or three in the morning. We tried to get some sleep, but that didn't seem to work. By about 5:00am the contractions were right on top of each other and Aimee wasn't getting any breaks. The pain was getting intense, so they gave Aimee some pain medicine, that made her pretty groggy.

By this time it is seven or eight in the morning and Aimee has had about an hour of sleep. A bit later in the morning, the doctor chose to break the waters and induce Aimee. That kicked the contractions and the pain through the roof. Aimee was doing really great with everything and could manage the pain well. Eventually it started to wear on her so she agreed to have the epidural.
After a loooong wait, they gave her the drugs.

Aimee's response......... This is GREAT!!

That helped Aimee a ton. That took her right into the pushing.
She pushed for close to 3 hours and was doing great. The doctor came in to check on the progress, and was concerned because baby was face up. He tried his best to roll Baby over, but no avail. He decided on C-Section, and Aimee agreed.

They rushed Aimee to O.R. and proceeded with the C-Section. As I was with Aimee I looked over the curtain. Baby was wedged in tight!!!! They worked for a bit to unwedge the head.
I could finally see our babys face. The work was not over yet. The rest of Baby was wedged more than the head. But soon Baby popped free, and then...

Emma Janae Connolly joined the world, March 1st 2006 at 7:08pm.
She weighed 8lbs 7.9oz and was 21" long.
She has a lot of beautiful black hair.

She and Mom are doing great, and Aimee is recovering exceptionally well.
